Overview

The Central Bank of Egypt adopted open banking and instant payment regulations in late 2021. The Instant Payment Network (IPN) launched in March 2022, linking all operating banks. InstaPay became the first CBE-licensed PSP to operate over IPN, enabling customers to access all bank accounts and transfer funds instantly 24/7. The framework supports account aggregation, balance inquiries, bill payments, and transfers via QR codes.
